Bring your own instance

Thunder Compute provides the flexibility to attach virtual GPUs to your own cloud instances, kubernetes clusters, servers, or even personal computers. While this is even more convenient to set up than our managed instances, performance will be limited by the network connection to the virtually attached GPU.

Running GPU code

  • $ tnr run
    • If you are not in a Thunder Compute managed instance, prefix any command with $ tnr run to use cloud GPUs

Optimizing performance

While we can guarantee strong performance with our managed instances, there are some steps you can take to improve the performance with your instance.

In the cloud

  • Use servers located in the Northwest United States
  • If using a cloud instance, use AWS Oregon
  • If possible, upgrade the networking of your instance

On-premises (slower, but ideal for some use cases)

  • Upgrade your internet service plansome text
    • Upload and download speeds are equally important
  • Use an ethernet connection
